PowerU Collaboration
Enable learning to continue through social networking capabilities
Studies show that, in a classroom setting, we only learn about ten percent of what we need to know to do our jobs. Most learning takes place on the job, either by trying something new or by talking to others who know about it. PowerU provides a number of tools to support different types of informal learning. Among these are:
- Communities of Practice

- PowerU has the experience to create a Web-based Community of Practice (CoP) site for your organization. Learner updates, question-and-answer postings, collaboration forums, and real-world instructor feedback are all examples of items we have successfully created and implemented for our customers.
- Wikis
- A wiki, according to the Wikipedia definition, is “a type of Web site that allows visitors to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit content that is made available.” PowerU provides wikis to class members in support of collaborative work on class projects. A group of people can also use the wiki to author and revise suggested changes to the course or reference material. This functionality ensures that the course is kept up to date and relevant.
- EPSS
- Electronic Performance Support Systems provide on-the-job, just-in-time learning by making available content targeted at specific job tasks. These EPSS modules can be embedded in computer systems, or placed on hand-held devices for anytime, anywhere learning.
- Web Conferencing Tools
- Live discussions and conferences over the Internet can leverage the value of subject matter experts by allowing them to teach concepts and answer questions to an audience spread out over a large geographical area. PowerU supports major collaboration engines like Centra, Interwise and WebEx and can integrate any of them into the PowerU infrastructure.
